Addiction Recovery Support for Couples
All change, even healthy change, can be difficult to navigate as a couple. If you, your partner, or perhaps both of you, are in recovery and actively participating in a program (such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Overeaters Anonymous, Al-Anon, etc.) and you would like transitional support in integrating and adjusting to the changes that recovery demands in your relationship, I can help. I have found PACT Couples Therapy to be particularly useful in supporting couples doing this work. Addictions are formed as a way of coping with emotional pain. This approach to couples therapy provides the opportunity to heal the painful underlying wounds and teaches skills for more maturely processing the feelings that come to the surface once the numbing behaviors are addressed. Please note that I am not a primary addictions counselor (known in WA State as a CDP or Chemical Dependency Professional).
